still life

I love to style on still-life sets. I find it much more challenging and rewarding than working on model shoots.

Still-life styling is a very precise skill. It can take hours to transform a simple product into a consumer must-have. With the experience of understanding camera settings and photo composition, stylists learn the skill of storytelling through props, sets and usually using a lot of fishing wire!!!

My first job on a still-life set was with a fashion editor I assisted in New York. A crew of 10-15 stylists and photographers would work for days on transforming rails of simple garments like a summer hat or knitted jumper to a high street best-seller.
